Pat Berry

Patrick Berry began his career in long-term/post-acute care immediately following college at The University of South Dakota and has now been serving vulnerable adults for over 20 years.  During that time, he spent a majority of his operations experience in a stand-alone, continuing care retirement community similar to Fountain West and Heritage Court acquiring extensive knowledge on this rewarding vocation yet challenging, highly regulated, ever-changing and formidable industry.

Patrick recognizes the need to partner and build/strengthen relationships with residents and families in a concerted effort to provide the highest level of quality care and life to our deserving residents.  He also respects resident advocacy and is passionate about creating a resident centered culture/environment.

Chris Anderson

In 1998 I joined the Fountain West Team wearing several different hats over the years.  I began my career as an administrative assistant, learning and growing in that position until I moved on into the position of office manager.  I continued to learn and grow and am now the Business Operations Manager, as well as an assistant to the administrator.  I am responsible for the operation of the business office with duties ranging from payroll, billing, accounts payable, human resources and information technology.

My paternal grandmother lived with my family when I was a child and I enjoyed spending time with her.  We played cards, watched game shows on the TV and occasionally went to Bingo.  I really enjoyed watching my mom set grandmother’s hair every Saturday night so that she would be ready for church.  I was also involved in 4-H and other school activities.  These groups would often visit nursing facilities and I began to see how one person can make a difference in the lives of others.  I saw the joy of being a part of a strong community.

My husband and I have two children.  Devin is a senior at Johnston High School and Kali is a 5th grader at Lawson Elementary.  They certainly keep us busy!  We enjoy camping, kayaking, and watching college and professional football together.

Sarah Sanders

In 2005, I graduated from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA.  I then moved to Des Moines and began working with women and children.  Following that I worked in the medical field, including Mental Health and Geriatrics.  I found that working in geriatrics is my passion.

I began my career with Fountain West in 2014 as the Director of Resident and Family Services. The position allows me to work directly with the residents and families to ensure that their needs are being met. One of my responsibilities in this position is to provide tours to potential residents and assist with the admission process. Another main responsibility is the handling of the discharge planning for patients going home.

My time away from Fountain West is spent with my 7 year old son who is my joy and my fiancé. I love spending my time with them!

Julie Johnson

I started employment at Fountain West in June of 1998 as the evening unit secretary.  As my love and passion grew of working with the elderly I decided to start nursing school in 2002.  In 2004 I became a LPN working as a team leader in multiple areas of the building.  I graduated from DMACC with my RN in 2006.  Once receiving my RN I became the full time skilled unit charge nurse on the day shift.  I would often fill in for case managers when needed, extending my knowledge on care plans, MDS process, and management skills.  In 2007 I transitioned into the Assistant Director of nursing role.  In this position I was responsible for orientation of all new nursing staff, quality assurance and protocols, managing Heritage Court assisted living and multiple other duties.  In my years as the ADON, I gained a huge knowledge base of long term care rules and regulations, survey process, customer service and management.  I became the Director of Nursing in July of 2012.  I now manage the nursing department employees, assist in hiring of new nursing employees, create and implement policies/procedures, educate staff on best practice, and much more.  My focus always remains on the residents and their quality of life.  I enjoy being out working with them personally and getting to hear about their life prior to Fountain West.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and two beautiful daughters.  I am a huge Hawkeye fan, love to shop, and be outdoors!
